Can’t install plugins

    Automatic installation of plugins has stopped working for me – every time I try I get

    Download failed.: name lookup timed out

    I’ve searched the forums here and I did find someone who had a solution, which said:

    WP 2.7 has a bug that has to do with DNS name resolution. As a workaround, add the following to your local /etc/hosts:

    72.233.56.139 downloads.wp.xz.cn

    Can anyone explain (in easy-to-follow terms) how I can do this?
