(One has to select a version of WordPress to post, but I actually haven’t downloaded a version yet because that’s another question I have, whether I have to, since I already have a WordPress.com blog. And maybe my question relates somehow to not having downloaded a version yet!)

I registered, and am beginning the slow process of learning what’s here. The registration form asked for my blog, and I put it (http://thewhitelilyblog.wordpress.com) but nothing is ‘hot’ on the first post I made. There’s nowhere to click to get to my blog from there, unlike the forum at .com, where one’s name in the post is linked. I went to Edit several times and looked everywhere but can’t find any way to make my name or the avatar or whatever, hot with the link to my blog.

Is there no way to do this? Maybe this site wants one’s blog or site with .org only ??

As an aside, I have never been able to understand the relation between the two WordPress entities, .org and .com. The standard reply, which I’ve read often, doesn’t make any sense to me. Why should the same organization, for example, have two places to make blogs?

Just by the way, WordPress rules. By far the most communication-sensitive of all, in a world gone mad with jargon.

  • A #1: You need to have a certain number of forum post before your name can be hot-linked to your blog/site.

A #2: WordPress.com allows you to have a blog on their servers. hence why you blog is http://thewhitelilyblog.wordpress.com. On theother hand, ww.wp.xz.cn is responsible for making the wordpress script available fo those who wish to have the blog hosted on their own serves.

The differences? .com only allows a certain of customisation, content, and has limitations of using your blog to earn money. Plus you don’t own the domain name, you don’t pay for hosting either.

.org’s way – your are in total control of how your blog looks, what you have as content, how you go about earning money from your blog and you own your own domain name with the responsibility of meeting the hosting costs.

.com = great way to start for free + limitations
.org = still a great way to start (free script) + freedom to do as you will + hosting costs

Mr. Gani! You have made clear what was unclear! This is similar to turning lead to gold, or water to wine! I am in your debt!

Thank you so very much! May God repay you, if you don’t mind if I say.

    You are most welcome Janet.
Good luck, and no I don’t mind 🙂
