    Hi,

    One of my client’s IP address was blocked for the following reason:

    Activity Detail
    IP was blocked: Exceeded the maximum number of page not found errors per minute for a crawler. at https://www.domainname.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
    04/09/2019 09:21:20 (1 hour 29 mins ago)  
    IP: x.x.x.x Hostname: x.ripe.coltfrance.com 
    Human/Bot: Bot
    Browser: undefined
    Microsoft Office/16.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Microsoft Outlook 16.0.11328; Pro)

    I have temporarily whitelisted the client’s IP, but I would like to ensure if this is the correct solution, or if I should just add https://www.domainname.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml to the Whitelisted 404 URLs and remove the IP from the automatic Whitelist.

  • Hi @prashansa,

    This error is caused by your client using Exchange (a mail client software). This connects to your site at autodiscover.example.com or example.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml.

    Because this request may happen multiple times, Wordfence will automatically block the IP addresses of anyone who requests that page too many times.

    I would recommend simply whitelisting the URL and removing that client’s IP from the whitelist. (As your client’s IP may change in the future)
