Optimizing the photos

    Hello, could you help me please? Using this plugin I still will need to optimized the photos or not? I am talking about size. I have quite a lot of heavy photos on my GDrive. Do I have to reduce the size before or with this plugin I do not have to do this and it will notaffect the speed of the website as photos are storage not on the server?

    Hi @bonsancon unfortunately you would have to optimize the images first before importing (when needed). Also keep in mind images are getting imported into your WordPress Media Library.

    Hello, thank you!

    Some more bit “Also keep in mind images are getting imported into your WordPress Media Library.” So basically it will be hosted in Gdrive, but work with the images I can do through the gallery. Do you mean this?

    @bonsancon no, all images picked and imported are going to be hosted in WordPress.

    Thank you, but I a bit confused. What the reason to use the plugin ( I mean your plugin is great!) I just want to understand why to use it, if still it will be hosted on my server…or I misunderstand something?

    @bonsancon the plugin extends file picking functionality of a Media Library. It unifies many integrations such as

    1. https://www.dropbox.com/developers/chooser
    2. https://developers.google.com/picker/docs

    and so on into one as one simple solution.

    Google, Dropbox won’t let you serve the images directly from their services due to possible server load that could create on their infrastructure (this is just my understanding).

    Storing media somewhere else outside of Media Library is in progress, it is not a simple solution and would involve some changes and this would be only available to paid users because I would need to use paid storage services.
