@mweichert I have the same issue. Just installed the latest beta (3.9.1.1) and still got the same Error.
The thumb for a gallery in an album had disapeared (it as all empty) in 3.9 and 3.9.1 but luckily, 3.9.1.1 fixes it ! It’s back to normal now 🙂
with the latest update the problem is not solved

Can you please update us on the issue’s status? Apparently, the gallery’s thumbnails are being displayed on your site’s Homepage while using NextGen Gallery 3.9.2.
If referring about NextGen Gallery widget, unfortunately, at this moment it doesn’t work if being added using a third party page builder but it should regularly work if being added via the regular WP widget area from “Appearance -> Widgets”.
Our developers are looking for a potential fix for NextGen Gallery’s widget to make it work with the third party editors just like before the latest round of updates.
