• This plugin broke my site. There was an error after starting the backup process and I tried to refresh the page. But after starting the backup process, I still get 504 Gateway Time-out Error.

    Hi @sergeymeln

Sorry to hear that, but as you received 504 Gateway Time-out Error, it does not mean that your website is broken.

We have not received any of such report earlier.
Because of that, I think it may be related to your server / hosting provider.

You can receive such error while hosting firewall is blocking your requests, which means the website does not work only for you, but others can still access it.

While using firewall you should whitelist your IP address to prevent such things from happening. We’re always happy to help in any case for free.

Depends on your firewall settings, you should be able to access your website back within 1 minute to 1 hour – or when you reset the firewall in hosting dashboard.

You can see how it works on our sandbox platform which is also free.
Use this URL to create instance with our plugin: https://demo.tastewp.com/bmi

Our backup process does not modify any files as well as database, so it’s not possible to break the website by this operation. But as any other backup plugin it uses more resources to finish it as quick as possible.

Also, on backup error, the process stops immediately and it doesn’t run anymore.
It would be helpful if you could share what kind of error you received.

We have alternate backup methods that can solve such issue as well, but I’d still recommend to whitelist your IP address in your firewall, especially when it’s very sensitive.

Please, let me know what’s your hosting provider and if you use any kind of firewall – even security plugin with firewall built-in can cause it.

    Thank you!

Thank you for the quick response! The plugin is really good, but I think the php process took a lot of my resources 🙂 I noticed that after more than an hour, the backup had been completed, so during that time the script had worked and I couldn’t access the site because of 504 Error (probably because of memory_limit and max_execution_time values that were set with ini_set).
