Unknown file found on scan

    I have been searching if I can find those particular two files that have been detected on a first scan (first scan after installing WF), but could not find anything. Is that something I should be concerned about or would it be safe to ignore those two files?

    High Severity Problems:

    * Unknown file in WordPress core: wp-includes/SimplePie/XML/class-wp-inc.php

    * Unknown file in WordPress core: wp-includes/js/thickbox/class-wp-feed.php

    Hi @danistein, thanks for reaching out to us.

    There are suggestions that these filenames could be linked to malware, so I would recommend taking a full backup of your site and attempting to repair/remove rather than ignore them for now. The backup should just ensure you can return the site to its previous state if anything about the removal stops your site from working properly.

    If you can take a copy of the files using FTP or your hosting file manager, you can always send them to samples @ wordfence . com with the scan information from above. They should be able to shed more light on the situation and whether there’s any further action required to prevent them returning.

    Please note that when making files available to us, ensure that you remove any database access credentials or keys/salts contained inside before sending.

    Thank you very much @wfpeter . I did as you suggested. Any chance to get notified of the results found on those samples and wether I need to take any other action depending on what is found?
