• Aloha! Hoping someone can help me out with some information or advice on the following challenge I’m facing.

Im creating a new website using wordpress with Hostinger. When I select a Theme under the Appearance menu it automatically creates a webpage at my URL altrusitacollective.org

Issue: There is no way to view this page under the Pages menu or edit it with the rest of my pages. I’m only able to edit using the wordpress theme customize function and not any other page building plugin or even with the default WP block builder.

Is there a way to turn this off entirely and only have the Pages I create from the PAGES menu be active?

My initial thought for a workaround is to just have the phantom URL that my Theme creates redirected to a /home Page that I create. This would serve as the landing page for my website. But then I just have this random Theme page floating around the web? There doesn’t seem to be a way to disable the theme function that I have found yet. Or to hide this phantom Theme page from search engines, etc.

I’m struggling to find any information on this on the web, appreciate your time and any feedback!

    Thank you!

    James

  • By default, WordPress displays your latest blog POSTs on your homepage. Themes can override this and show various sections and areas on the homepage which are often customizable in the theme’s settings.

But you can go to SETTINGS => READING and under “Your homepage displays”, and set ANY of your existing public PAGEs to be displayed on your homepage.

    Good luck!
