    Hi,

I’ve got the plugin installed, and setup with Brevo. On Brevo my domain is authenticated, all four DNS records (Brevo code, DKIM 1, DKIM 2 & DMARC) come back as checked and matching on Brevo after adding them to my domain with my web host. I created the API key and set it in the plugin etc and have everything else matching. However, when I test it I get the following message back “dkim Action Needed: It doesn’t look like the DKIM record required by Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) has been added to your domain.” The test email never comes through to me.

The forms on the website are working though, and going to the new email accounts I have rather than the old ones that I had in cPanel. However, when a new email comes into Outlook for example they are listed as “unverified”, which I can only assume is because of the DKIM error. I have double and triple checked my DNS setting with my host, and they are exactly the same as the records provided to me by Brevo, so I have no idea why I’m getting this message telling me it hasn’t been added to my site, and I assume this is why my emails show as “unverified”.

Any idea why this might be and how to fix it? Also, I created a sub domain because I have another DMARC record for the main email which needs to stay.

    Many thanks,

    Stephen

    Hi @macey79,

Thanks for reaching out! First, please check your WP Mail SMTP -> Settings page to ensure that your “From Email” address matches your Brevo authenticated domain name. It’s possible there might be a typo in your “From Email” address.

If your “From Email” address is correct, try sending a test email to the address provided by this tool: https://www.mail-tester.com/. This will help you check your score and identify any DKIM-related issues. If you encounter any DKIM-related errors, please share the report with Brevo support, as they should be able to assist you further.

Let us know how it goes. Thanks!

    Hi @darshanaw

Sorry for not getting back sooner.

There isn’t a typo in the “From Email” and I just tried sending to the email address provided in the link that you mentioned but nothing is happening when I do the check, it’s just stuck in a loop counting down so I think the test email hasn’t gone through.

I am using a subdomain on Brevo which I setup with my host because I have other settings for my main email account that I cannot remove. So I set a subdomain to allow me to add another setting of that type , which was the dmarc record if I recall correctly.

The odd thing is Brevo has authenticated all the DNS records, so I am really puzzled as to why I’m getting this dkim error when I try to send the test email. As said the plugin is kind of working, as its sending the emails via our webforms to the correct mailboxes but in outlook they are flagging as “unverified” which I can only assume is because the plugin is telling me theres a dkim error.

    Many thanks,

    Stephen

    Hi @macey79,

Thank you for your patience and for providing more details. Based on the information you’ve shared, there are a couple of steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Check for other SMTP Plugins: Ensure that no other SMTP plugins are activated in your WordPress backend. If any are active, please deactivate them and retest.
    2. Verify DNS Records with Brevo: Visit Brevo Domain Configuration and click on “View Configuration” for your authenticated domain.
    3. Use DNS Checker: For each record, use DNS Checker to verify their status. Select the appropriate record type (e.g., “CNAME”) and enter the hostname, such as “brevo1._domainkey.example.com” for the DKIM 1 record. This will help determine if there are any issues with your DNS records.
    4. Report Issues to DNS Provider: If you notice any discrepancies or issues with your DNS records, please report them to your DNS provider for resolution.
    5. Reauthenticate with Brevo: Once any issues are resolved, return to the Brevo DNS page and click “Check Configuration” to reauthenticate your domain.

Once you check those steps, please retest and let us know how it goes.

    Thanks!
