Hi, in the last couple of days our events calendar has started misbehaving – but only on mobile devices. It seems fine on desktop PCs but, on mobile devices, the table of events is pushed across to the left and appears to be all in the ‘Mon’ column. (if that makes sense! )

    Any suggestions greatly appreciated

    Hi @willdowty

    Thank you for reaching out!

It looks like the calendar styling isn’t loading correctly, which is causing the issue you’re experiencing. I noticed that you have a caching plugin active, which might be causing the issue (see Caching Basics). Could you please try temporarily deactivating your caching plugins to see if that resolves the problem?

Additionally, please navigate to Events > Settings > Calendar in your WordPress dashboard and make sure the “Enable the Month View Cache” option is disabled.

Once you’ve tried these steps, let me know if the issue persists or if you notice any changes. I’m here to help further if needed!

Let me know how it goes.

    Hi there,

It looks like things have been quiet here, so I’ll close this thread for now. If you run into any other questions, feel free to reach back out by reopening or starting a new thread—we’ll be glad to help.

    Hi Darian,

Great, that sorted it out – thanks!

While I was looking at the calendar, I noticed that there was a new version that incorporated the category colors plug-in (which I had). I’ve migrated to that, but the category colors only show on the current month – when you click to the next month, there’s no category colors.

Please could you suggest what I should do?

    Many thanks – Will

    Hi @willdowty

Thanks for your response. Just to confirm—are you referring to the background colors shown here? https://share.zight.com/4guEplBX

If so, I believe those colors are due to the events being multi-day events, not from the category colors.

To check the category color issue, go to Events > Event Categories and see if the category colors are set correctly. If they are, please try the following:

    • Deactivate the standalone Category Colors plugin (if it’s installed).
    • Make sure the “Enable the frontend functionality for Category Colors” option is checked
    • Temporarily disable any caching plugins.
    • Then, check if the background colors display as expected.

Let me know how it goes!

    Hi Darian,

It’s odd, Only one category color is show all year (Grey – for mens events) – until October, when there are two (grey, and light blue – for mixed events). None of the other colors are visible – for instance, on the 23rd October, the “13 Hole Competition” should be red as it’s in the Ladies category.

I’ve tried all your suggestions, but nothing has changed. It’s very odd.

    Thanks, Will

    Thanks for your response @willdowty

If your category colors are correctly set on the Events > Event Categories page, please try the following steps to see if they resolve the issue:

    1. Go to Events > Settings > General > Viewing and uncheck the “Enable the Month View Cache” option.
    2. Temporarily disable any caching plugins and server-side caching.

Let us know if these steps help or if you notice any changes. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to follow up!

    Hi Darian,

Unfortunately, the colors aren’t correct. There’s only two showing – and neither corresponds with the correct category.

I’ve tried disabling all caching and have excluded /event/ from WPRocket caching, but nothing’s changed. What can I try next please?

    Hi @willdowty

Just to confirm, have the category colors successfully migrated from your Events > Event Categories page? If you’re not seeing the correct colors, it’s possible that the migration didn’t complete as expected. If that’s the case, I recommend reviewing our knowledgebase article on how to migrate category colors properly.

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/fixing-the-category-colors-migration-issue/

If the colors are all in there, it’s possible there’s a conflict with another plugin or your theme. To help isolate the cause, please try the following steps:

    1. Temporarily activate only The Events Calendar plugins and switch to the Twenty Twenty-One theme.

    2. Check if the issue persists in this minimal setup.

    3. If the problem is resolved, reactivate your other plugins and theme one by one, testing after each activation to identify which one may be causing the conflict.

To ensure your live site remains unaffected, I recommend running these tests on a staging version of your site. If you don’t already have a staging site set up, the WP Staging plugin is a helpful tool to create one easily.

Let me know how it goes.

    Hi,

No, I don’t think the colors have migrated. Looking at another post about color migration and you suggested they check some hooks in scheduled actions.

As a mater of interest I checked them and found that tec_events_category_colors_migration_postprocess has failed …. so I guess I need to follow the instructions in your “Fixing the Category Colors migration issue” post?

Just to be sure … if I follow this process, will it retain all the events? (I’ve got a lot)

    Thanks, Will

    Hi @willdowty

Rest assured, migrating your color categories will not impact your existing events—only the colors themselves will be updated. However, if you’re worried, I recommend you create a full backup of your website before doing the migration.

If the initial recommendation doesn’t resolve the issue, yes, our article “Fixing the Category Colors migration issue” provides step-by-step guidance to help you complete the migration process:

    Hi,

I’ve follow the instructions on the “Fixing the Category Colors migration issue” page, but the migration still hasn’t worked (all caches flushed etc). I’m just seeing the same couple of random colors.

For now, I’ve reverted to version 6.13.0, with the additional colors plug-in and disabled auto-updates …. which seems to be working fine.

Do you have any other suggestions please?

    Many thanks, Will

    Hi,

Sorry, I spoke too soon, the mobile version has now fallen apart again … and there’s no colors. I’ve emptied all the caches, but it sill not working.

I just don’t know what else to try – any suggestions gratefully accepted. I’m getting a lot of emails about this now!

    Thanks, Will

    Hi @willdowty

Are you still experiencing any issues with your calendar? I’ve just reviewed your calendar and the category colors are displaying correctly on my end.

    Hi Darian,

Everything seems fine on my PC, but on a mobile phone I’m back to where we started with the table all out of alignment.

    Hi @willdowty

Thank you for letting me know. The screenshot I shared was taken from an Android mobile phone using Chrome. If you’re still experiencing issues, could you please provide a screenshot of what you see on your end? This will help me investigate the problem more thoroughly.
