• Dear Mailster Team,

when switching to PHP 8.4 under my webhoster IONOS, Mailster will no longer work as PHP IMAP extension is not installed there.

Switching back to PHP 8.3 (still supported by IONOS until 2027) will solve the issue for the time being.

    Question:
Is Mailster planning to overcome this issue or should we hope that IONOS will activate PHP IMAP under PHP 8.4 one day?

    Thanks and kind regards

    Michael

    Additional Remark:

I just realized that the IMAP extension was removed from PHP 8.4 in general due to various reasons, including safety.

Hence, an alternative solution for Mailster will become vital one day in order to be able to continue.

    Thanks

    Michael

    Hello Michael,

    thanks for reaching out.

Yes, with PHP 8.4, the IMAP extension has been unbundled. So it now longer ships with PHP, and is only available as an extra plugin that managed hosters likely will not offer.

We are fully aware of that and are working on a version that is independent from the PHP IMAP extension.

    Thanks,
    Holger

@brandtoss, thank you for working on a version that is independent from IMAP extension. Do you have a rough timeline when this version could be publicly available?

    Regards,
    Marco
