problem exporting the database

    Hello everyone,

    I have a wordpress website and i manage the mysql database with phpmyadmin.

    When I created the database I think I used a character set “spanish latin1” or something like that. And now, when I do a backup of the database using myadmin there are problems with the letters with accents and the letter ñ, they appear as strange characters.

    Do you know how to fix it?

    Those characters may well appear strange when you look at them in the database, but when they are printed to screen the browser should take care of them and convert them appropriately. I wouldn’t worry too much.

    You could test this by creating another WP install as a test site and importing the file there. If you need any advice about this, do say 🙂

    I’ve done that already.

    I decided to have an installation on my computer so that I can make changes on local. When I load the database in local all the strange characters came into the webpage.

    How do most of the people do the backups of wordpress?
