Comments popup window showing the post instead

I know this has been posted before but none of the ones I could find were resolved, or else none of the suggestions worked for me.

I have two blogs. On one, http://knit.laurenisms.com, the comments work (though the template is not there) — by “work” I mean that a window pops up and that window shows the comments and also allows you to post.
On the other one, http://www.laurenisms.com, the comments do not work. By “not work” I mean that a window pops up like it’s supposed to, but the content of the window is just the post reproduced again all squished up.

I’ve tried copying the code from the site that works to the site that doesn’t work for all the comment-related files I could find (comments.php, comments-popup.php, wp-comments-post.php, edit-form-comment.php), and also cross-checking the code in index.php and header.php, and I cannot find the problem.

It might be worth noting that files seem not to upload with the correct permissions, but I’ve tried changing the permissions for all the files I’ve changed (I think) and it didn’t make a difference. It’s possible that a file that needs to be called doesn’t have the right permissions, but I can’t find it, if so.

Has anyone figured this out? Can anyone figure out my problem? Please let me know if I can post any code here. I’ve changed several files so I didn’t want to reproduce the code for all of them.
