• Hi,

I’ve just set up a wordpress site on my win 7 pc. I’ve installed IIS and MySQL and have completed the wordpress setup.

I had to create a user in MySQL rather than trying to use the root user and then it all worked, or so I thought.

I have since had trouble installing plugins, more specifically bubbypress, so I started to create some test users to test the site with, rather than only log in in as the wordpress administrator.

When I click on the register link (http://****/wordpress/wp-login.php?action=register) on the site’s home page I get a 404 error. And the physical path given in the error equates to a register directory that does not exist. (C:\****\wordpress\register) The error reports that the log in method and log in user are both anonymous.

I fear WordPress does not have windows permissions to create directories or that there is something wrong with the database set up and the anonymous log in is failing to create a new site user?

Ok so I reinstall wordpress from the dashboard/updates/reinstall and I can register a new user.

However the site failed to send me an email with my password in it. I can see the user is in MYHSQL but the passwords are encrypted. Any ideas on what I need to get it to send email?

I’m playing with the smtp settings in IIS
