SQL/DB Error 28

    My WordPress blog has been working since I installed it last week, however today it displays the following error:

    SQL/DB Error:
    [Got error 28 from table handler]
    SELECT DISTINCT link_category, cat_name, show_images, show_description, show_rating, show_updated, sort_order, sort_desc, list_limit FROM     wp_links LEFT JOIN wp_linkcategories ON (link_category = cat_id) WHERE link_visible = 'Y' ORDER BY cat_name

    I can login but the links section shows the same error. Any ideas as to what’s causing this? I have made no changes to databases or WP files.

    It now appears to have been a problem with my hosting company. Here’s the reply to the support ticket I opened. I’m posting for future reference:

    This was in regard to the /tmp partition becoming corrupt. We unmounted the partition, fixed it, then mounted it again. You shouldnt receive any more error 28 messages.

    I appreciate your help and the link. I found a similar link while searching this forum. However, I just ran a repair table function via phpMyAdmin and now it’s working. None of my other databases and tables were affected. Odd, but at least it’s now working. Thanks again 🙂

    How do you run a repair table function and how do I know which table to run it on? I’m getting the “error 28 from table handler” error as well and my host is being slow to respond. I’m logged into MyPHPAdmin, but have no idea what I should even attempt to fix this.

    This is, as previously mentioned, a problem with your hosting company, since it’s on their server. It basically means that the hard drive containing your site is full/corrupt. Unless you’re running your own server, you cannot fix this yourself.

    This same thing msql error 28 just happened to me tonight. My host (PagesGarden.com) responded very quickly and said that I could use the msql “repair” utility in the cPanel to fix the problem.

    …Just thought I’d pass along the word for any cPanel-enabled hosting users.
