Moving wordpress installation to a different server
-
I have a wordpress installation (v2.0.2) on a hosting account, and I have copied over all the files on the new account, and created a new database for them. I had to edit the wp-config.php file with the new database information for the site to work.
Originally on the old server, the wordpress installation was installed via fantastico, and I did the updates through fantastico. I want to do updates the same way in fantastico, on the new server. How can I make fantastico see the installation of wordpress. Also, the version of wordpress that fantastico has on the new server is v2.0.3, but the old server only has v2.0.2.
I was thinking about erasing everything I had copied to the new server, and going into fantastico and installing wordpress, and then copying all my old files and change the database. But I think this would mess up the installation as they are two different versions, and I am unsure of the changes between the versions.
What do you suggest I do? I have a bunch of the wordpress docs open and im trying to figure it out, but I’m not sure how to proceed.
