A link would be good .. but
I changed my default cat, and I have no idea why it happened, when I set up email blogging.
I created a cat called – unimaginatively – Email, and made it so that such mailed posts landed in there. For some reason, that is now my default cat.
pezastic, have a link? It might be helpful to look at your generated source and maybe a error is in there.
For changing the default category:
wp-admin – options – writing – usual category
Thats laid out weird, I imagine that will get changed in a future version to be less confusing. It was far more clear in 1.0 and prior.
That’s also confusing …. I took what is in that options box to be where I wanted an *emailed* post to go, not what my blog default would be. It is in the “Writing by Email” box.
I’d suggest either that box be moved into a seperate area on that page and duly labelled, or that the category for email posts be able to be seperately chosen.
This is fixed in CVS. There are separate defaults for email posting and regular posting. Both are configurable through Options->Writing.
why not rename the general category to a name you like?
Wow, that was too easy. Another “DUH!” for me. Also, the reason my categories weren’t showing up is that I didn’t check the main category along with the subcategory. I didn’t realize that if an entry is to have a sub category, its parent category has to be checked also, or it won’t show under the category list.
This is really odd ….
I use the advanced post screen, and the default cat is set as “Email” as I described above.
I just switched it to simple – to test something – and my default cat is set at “Chatter” which it was originally.
Odd. Ho hum 🙂
