Hi! I have the Sugar and Spice theme, and I posted my very first blog post. Under the title, I’m not seeing the “Date” that it was posted on.

I realize that it SHOULD be there because I’ve seen the example page and how it should look, but it is missing on my page.

PLEASE HELP…total beginner here! Thank you!

ALSO NOTE…when I look under the Dashboard…Appearance…Customize, it SHOWS up. But it’s not showing up on the live website! Why?

  • Under Dashboard > Appearance > Theme Options > Post meta display options, are all those boxes (“Display date”, “Display author”, and “Display comments”) checked?

    Those are all checked. Correct.

It’s strange that no HTML is being output, even though you’ve got those options checked. Can you temporarily enable debugging and see if any errors appear? Have you edited any of the theme files?

How do I temporarily enable debugging? I see you gave me a link, but I have no idea where to start with all of that… it’s all “greek” to me.

I haven’t really edited any files. I have added a background, so it’s a little different than the original theme. And I added CSS in the CSS Editor to shrink the About Me Picture.

Like I said, it’s showing up under the “Customize” screen…but not on the live site! I have no idea why!

Do you have FTP or cPanel access to your site? If not, you’ll need to speak with your hosting provider. Once you have FTP or cPanel access, you can access and edit wp-config.php from your WordPress installation and enable debugging.

It’s strange that it appears correctly when you look at Dashboard > Appearance > Customize, but not on the live site itself.

I have a CPANEL through HostGator. I wouldn’t know where to start with editing wp-config.php

Can you access your Web Disk or File Manager through cPanel? You can navigate through your files just like you do on your home computer, and once you find wp-config.php, you can edit it right from your File Manager.

Actually, I think I’ve got it solved! Colin helped me on another forum and I think we figured it out. Made it “Excerpts Only”…and SOMEHOW that fixed it??!?
