ALA style text widget for sidebar: plugin

    I’ve been searching for a free plugin that achieves this for a while but haven’t managed to find one.

    On the A List Apart website you’ll notice, on article pages, a ‘Snapshot’ of the article in the sidebar area.

    I think this is an excellent feature. Although you can achieve this in WordPress with some customization I think it would be a really useful sidebar widget plugin or even a part of basic functionality in future releases.

    At first I wanted to have unique descriptions of individual categories for usability reasons (I still do), but I also feel in many scenarios it is useful to have the possibility of entering unique text (like ALA’s Snapshot) for individual blog posts.

    Does anyone know of a plugin that achieves this?

    Really appreciate any point in the right direction.
