Default sortby is either latest added or latest updated, so that’s probably why the order seems strange. If you want to sort by date, you have to set that attribute (and may also have to set the order attribute depending on your preference for ASC or DESC).
Okay, makes sense. What I am trying to do is have the bibliography display the references in the order they appear in the content. This worked in the versions before 6.0. Is this no longer possible?

I think it should be possible — I’ll look into it.

I can’t replicate the out-of-order issue — it’s working on my end. Can you contact me with your post content and API id and key so I can test? http://katieseaborn.com/contact

Figured out the issue — will be fixed in 6.0.4.
I still get a random order when using zotpressInTextBib. This is particularly visible/confusing when using the %num% format which produces, [1], [2], [3] references which point to the right citation but with the wrong list entry number.
Just popping in to confirm I’m also having the problem that rudfan mentions. The order seemed to be working well a few months ago, but no more.
Additionally, on some pages, the bibliography list generates, but then 80% of the list items disappear after it loads. It leaves only 5 to 10 of the initial 30 to 50 items.

I’ve got a fix for %num% format citations, which will be released for 6.1.1.
@dumples Can you contact me with your API id, key, and the shortcodes for the second issue?
