First Time User Issues

    In the control panel there are a list of tables with the following text:

    EXCLUDE DATABASE TABLES FROM OPTIMIZATION: CHECKED TABLES WON’T BE OPTIMIZED!

    My question is should I be unchecking these tables and optimising them? Are there any risks in doing so? Why wouldn’t I want to optimise them?

    I am a very amateur web builder so this may be a very obvious question (sorry about that)

    Hey JoshJames,

    Normally you optimize all tables (leave all check boxes unchecked).

    In rare cases the webmaster can decides to NOT optimize a heavy traffic table: a table with many transactions per minute or second, because it might delay the transactions (causing, some ‘hick-ups’).
    However, even in that case, optimizing these tables won’t cause any damage.
