• Good day,

    I am setting up a WordPress website for my dad that is a die-cast toy car collector. I am not setting up a e-Commerce site where he will be selling his collection, but rather showing off his collection.

    I have done a few basic WordPress sites before, but not so many that I am aware of all suitable plugins available to be used.

    This is a budget project I am paying for out of my own pocket and as such I would like to keep the costs to a minimum, so please keep that in mind when responding.

    I am looking to give him;

    1. The ability to have some sort of gallery of his collection that can be filtered with various tags, such as, but not limited to; brand, size, manufacturer, etc.
    2. Each item in the gallery should of course have its own page/informative section.
    3. The ability to have several items group (possibly a link with a pre-defined filter in the url as per above). For example a Menu item that says My Collection -> Ford -> Mustang, which will then load his gallery with those filters)
    4. A tutorial-like section. A place where he can show-case how has done some of his customization work.
    5. Ease of use. I wont always be able to add filters, items, etc for him so something which will be fairly easy to teach him (as he says, he is a Dinosaur when in comes to technology).

    In a nutshell, the vision he has for his site is simple. He wants to have a online gallery/collection area where he can show off his hobby as a collector and customization he has done on some of his items.

    Regards,
    Anton

  • Hi Anton,

    You can utilise WooCommerce to just display as a catalog, thus not having any kinds of purchasing facility.

    This will allow you do use the product categories (but use them as categories tailored to suite your needs)

    This would probably make it as easy for you as you like. Just find a nice template that has Woocommerce support and you are good to go.
