    I was wondering how the plugin in general is working: Is it just blocking access to functions for specific users or is it not loading the code for these functions at all?

    My intention is to slim down the backend as much as possible to reduce the amount of data sent to the browser – wondering whether Adminimize is the right tool to help with this …

    I’m frequently using very slow Internet connections, very low bandwidth. Loading the WordPress backend is a nightmare in such environments as it loads tons of javascripts and HTML code that is not needed for just simply writing a quick blog post.

    No, no access check – the plugin hide only areas, items.
    I think it is not the right tool. plugin for your requirements. The data on send, request is the same or more, include the check of the plugin. Adminmize helps you only to reduce the back end.
