Multi language – multisite or single site ?

    Have a multi language cityguide, with events, restaurants, etc. Posts change language but address, photos etc remain the same.

    Should I be considering a multisite (allows me to avoid translation plugin, found WPML a headache) or single site ?

    If single site, do I really need a translation plugin (all translations are manual by the same person) or can I use Advanced Custom Fields for each language and link them to the appropriate User language selection ?
