Complex plugin but works as advertised
-
I have revised my thinking about this plugin. First of all, I couldn’t find another free alternative with the same potential. So then, after running the maze of settings, I have emerged from it with a working model on a test site.
I will say that this plugin, because of its complexity, is not for the faint of heart. But after a week of trial and error, I have realized most of its potential.
Documentation could be improved by adding a suggested workflow so that a person wouldn’t have to stop and research what went wrong and then back-track to fix the problem. For instance, it was not obvious that although you make a separate Profile Form for each user role that you do NOT make a separate user profile page. I found this out the hard way, via Google search.
Another thing which comes to mind is that if your site has any pages with the names of Account, User, Register, Logout or Members that the plugin will still make these default pages, but their slugs will be like account-2. This probably won’t affect the working of the plugin, but could throw a developer off track if he’s working with code in a template.
In the end, I realize that my original rating was unfair, so I have changed it to reflect my new-found respect for Ultimate Members. My apologies if I have scared anybody away. They’ll come back because this plugin is the best there is for this purpose.
