Slashes Caused Request Entity Too Large Error

    Using latest version of NextGen Gallery. Uploaded images to gallery just fine. Went back later to add the Title tag and Description/caption. Entered the text and clicked Save and received this error:
    Request Entity Too Large
    The requested resource
    /wp-admin/admin.php
    does not allow request data with GET requests, or the amount of data provided in the request exceeds the capacity limit.
    Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
    Searched support forum but couldn’t find anything useful. I did, however, see a post in the search results that mentioned slashes being added. But I didn’t understand the solution which seemed to be more back-end programmatic stuff (not something I would remotely know how to do).
    But after more searching, I recalled that the Description field for this gallery had some following slashes which I hadn’t put in but I hadn’t bothered deleting them since they didn’t show on the actual Gallery page. I figured it wouldn’t hurt to delete those. I started highlighting and scrolling down and there must have been thousands of slashes.
    I did <ctrl>A and then deleted all the slashes. In fact, I went ahead and deleted the description.
    Saved, then added the text, saved and, yippee, problem solved.
    I’m posting in hopes this will help someone else.

    @ctruly – Thanks for the report and the description of what you did to work around this issue. We are aware of it (and it’s relatively recent introduction) but we do not have a working solution to offer at this time. The problem appears to be the addition of slashes ( \ ) preceding most special characters including the slash itself. This then becomes a vicious cycle with each subsequent save of the gallery where slashes appear in the image details.
