Update from a really old plugin version

I’ve been bringing a site up to date and the last plugin outstanding is this. The version in use is 2.3.8 and it thinks there’s an update to 2.3.12 (which is no longer available as a download).

There are no events in the database but there is at least one calendar included in the site design.

Can I get away with simply uninstalling the existing plugin version and installing the current one? Or will I need to find any embedded calendars and make changes to them?
