• I have tried testing the IP blocking feature of Wordfence with a vps but for some reason it is not blocking the IP even though the live traffic is showing i am visiting the website with a blocked IP.
    – I have changed firewall from learning to protecting status
    – I have tried changing delay ip blocking
    – Ip is perma blocked manually but says that the IP has not visited the site when blocked even though live traffic says otherwise
    – Tried changing other settings
    – I am using cloudflare and the IP detection is correctly set

  • Hi builderb,
I think you mean “VPN” that you are using for testing? if so, when you are using the VPN, does the IP you get from a tool like this one -for example- is the same as in (Wordfence > Tools => Diagnostics => IPs)?
Try to block this IP address manually in (Wordfence > Blocking), the plugin should refuse that with a pop-up message saying “You can’t block your own IP address.”

If this isn’t what you mean, then please elaborate how exactly you are testing this feature?

    Thanks.

Both CF-Connecting-IP (In Use) and X-Forwarded-For are the same IP as mine and X-Real-IP is not set. Also yes i did manually block the IP and tried to perma block it still can access the site.

Do you have any IP listed in “Whitelisted IP addresses that bypass all rules” in the plugin options page?

What about trying another device (with another IP, your cellphone for example)? I mean try to block its IP then reload your website on this device, without using VPN at all.

    Thanks.
