Just like to announce that permalinks now work for this hack.
Take a look at these demos:

http://www.pytan.com/wpmbdemo/index.php/jason
http://www.pytan.com/wpmbdemo/index.php/mike

It’s like each user has his own installation but really there’s just one. On the surface, everything works, like links, date-links, category, theme.
Still left are feed stuff.
Let me know any bugs.
Even though no one cared, I’d like to report rss links is now working for this hack.
This WordPress multi-blog hack is now complete.
Do you have a format that is not in txt format?
How bout some links to downloads? I’m very interested in multiblogging.
Can each user define their original template set? The point is that I am thinking of creating multi language blogs with this function, something like…
http://www.pytan.com/wpmbdemo/index.php/en (english)
http://www.pytan.com/wpmbdemo/index.php/ja (japanese)
blah, blah…
I’m very interested in multiblogging, as I have a couple-three blogs where the url feeds into a main hosted account and it would be great not to have to purchase more databases from my host π
but it’s not possible to have multiple blogs and multiple users, right?
so for example:
blog a is for user 1 + 2
blog b is for user 3
blog c is for user 1+3
blog d is for user 1+2+3
blog e is for user 2+4
I’ve a plugin that lets you do a similar thing differently:
1. Download my opt-in front page plugin
2. Create a category called “Blog” and make it the default category
3. Activate my plugin
From then on, create one category per user, topic, whatever the basis of each blog is.
– yourblog.com/feed/ is the main feed, and only displays posts within the “Blog” category
– yourblog.com/archives/category/blah/feed/ is the feed for blog “blah”
– to make wordpress change the way pages are displayed, use in_category() in your theme
Anyone around using pytan’s hack? It is a great hack in theory, but I am having a couple problems with the rewrite and “all” users. Is this working for everyone? Also, where do you define what template to use for looking at posts withing a category, but across mutiple authors?
i would like to ask about the address to each new blog, could it be like that?
eg. http://domain.com/user1
http://domain.com/user2
http://domain.com/user3…………….
It’s working for me, testing the rewrites out at http://blogs.drumblog.com/
This hack has now been updated to WordPress version 1.5.1.3.

hm… can someone tell me if this plugin allows a single user to control several blogs? because from what i read is something like multiple users for multiple blogs. i’m sorry i can’t explain myself better, english is not my mother tongue.
For a “single user” to control several blogs, stay tuned. WordPress MU at http://mu.ww.wp.xz.cn/ will be out soon.
