Akismet dead after server upgrade: problem connecting to the Akismet server.

    After I installed on a new server. all is working – except Akismet. I get

    There was a problem connecting to the Akismet server.

    Yes, I can make outgoing connections, no there i sno firewall, yes, php-info says that option is on.

    Help! 🙂 Any help appreciated.

    I mean the full error message is:

    There was a problem connecting to the Akismet server. Please check your server configuration.

    I am also getting this error, and can not seem to find a fix for it. I believe this is realate to “Ensure that your host can make outgoing HTTP requests to akismet.com. (Many hosts block or firewall outgoing connections.)” which is stated on the Akismet FAQ. Anyone have a work around?
