Unable to maintain folder structure using WinZip

    This handydandy step-by-step guide

    to go from 1.2 to 1.5 says that when I unzip the 1.5 download, I should see 4 folders and several files. I only see a bunch of files. It says delete and try again. Same thing. It says Check whichever program you use to unzip and make sure it respects folder structure. I’m using winzip. Any suggestions?

    Are you right-clicking on the zip to select options ?

    Is there a scrollbar present on the right-hand side when viewing the archive? If so, scroll down, you should see the 4 folders: wp-content, wp-admin, wp-includes, and wp-images.

    Yes, there’s a scroll bar. No folders anywhere. WinZip 8.1, tried to upgrade, but now I have sort of problem with that saying I don’t have proper permissions to create files in your temporary folder.

    8.1 just works fine.
    Do not click on Open. Click “Extract”. On the left there is a checkbox: Use folder names – Make sure it is clicked!!!

    DUH… Thanks. Boy, do I feel sheepish…

    On the plus side, I discovered that I don’t have “proper permissions to create files” in my temporary folder.

    Now I have to figure out what that’s about.
