 * I get a few 403 errors. I am aware that it doesn’t effect the page functionality.
   But without css the page looks rather ugly.
 * 403 is from files like:
    [https://ranktool.bid/wp-content/cache/autoptimize/autoptimize_dff863abc627298f05d2165f18178fb7.php](https://ranktool.bid/wp-content/cache/autoptimize/autoptimize_dff863abc627298f05d2165f18178fb7.php)
 * 404 example:
    [https://ranktool.bid/wp-content/cache/autoptimize/js/autoptimize_dff863abc627298f05d2165f18178fb7.js](https://ranktool.bid/wp-content/cache/autoptimize/js/autoptimize_dff863abc627298f05d2165f18178fb7.js)
 * The files do not exist. I have cloudflare. SSL is via LE.
 * I have a few sites with similar setups, but just one makes trouble.
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2F403-404-errors%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)
   to see the link]_

 * The 403 is because you had “serve as static files” off and something on your
   system was prohibiting (direct) PHP execution from `wp-content/cache/autoptimize`
 * Clearing any page cache you have should do the trick. Also try activating the“
   404 handler” (although it will require some nginx level changes, see FAQ, your
   hoster should be able to help).

 * Very persistent error. All WordPress and Cloudflare cache cleaning didn’t help.
   Cleaning all server cache did the trick.

 * yeah, if you have nginx or similar caching on hoster/ server level that also
   counts as page cache.
 * as I wrote do look into that “404 handler” thingie which can serve as a workaround
   if this happens again, see [AO FAQ](https://wordpress.org/plugins/autoptimize/#faq)
   for info on how this can be done on nginx.
 * enjoy your Sunday!
