# 403 Error

 * Hi,
 * I’ve tried to solve the 403 error that’s been happening on my site since Friday
   morning, but none of the methods I’ve come across have worked to resolve the 
   issue.
 * My Wordfence security plugin notified me I was due for an upgrade, so I began
   to update my plugins and the WordPress core. That’s when I got the issue. Using
   this forum, I then renamed my plugins folder and created a new, empty plugins
   folder. That did not resolve the issue.
 * Then I renamed my current theme folder to see if a default theme would take over.
   That didn’t work, either.
 * I changed the file permissions, according to [this thread](http://www.beginwp.com/fix-error-403-forbidden-access-denied-wp-admin-login-page/).
 * When that didn’t work, I [changed my .htaccess file](http://patrickcoombe.com/wordpress-wp-admin-403-forbidden/).
 * After all of that, I’m still getting a 403 error. Any help?

 * It is possible that any other plugin you currently have doesn’t work with the
   most current WP installation you did or any WordPress file is corrupted.
 * You can try:
 * 1) Deactivating one by one the other plugins and see if this resolves the issue
   
   2) Switch to a different theme and see if the issue is still there 3) Make a 
   backup of your site and reinstall WordPress 4) Make a backup of your site and
   reinstall the Wordfence security plugin

 * I wound up reinstalling WordPress and my theme, and my site is now back online.
