# 404 Error When Using Permalinks

 * When I use custom permalinks and set up a 404 page (i put this before the rewrite
   stuff in my .htaccess):
 * `ErrorDocument 404 /index.php?error=404`
 * and uploaded the 404.php to my theme folder… everything works find except the
   monthly archives which come up as a 404. Any help would be appreciated.
