• I’m having a very strange error. I built my post with a link. I used the “convert to link” option and then the “embed” option. The link looks great.

If I click on the link, Chrome opens up the page… but I see the 404 message in my browser for half a second and then the page opens.

If I copy the url and paste it to Chrome or Safari or Firefox, then the 404 message is not there.

I don’t want to post the url publicly. It looks unfinished but it isn’t adult. No worries about anyone here seeing it

How did you come to this conclusion? Did you monitor the HTTP response, or did you just looked at the rendered page in the browser? If the latter, it’s possible that the intermediate 404 may have happened, but too fast for you to see anything.

I understand you perfectly. Unfortunately, without being able to test, there’s not much that can be said.

If you’ve not done so already, use the browser’s developer console to monitor the interactions going on behind the scenes — both in the scenario where the intermediate 404 response code is generated, and where no 404 occurs — and see if there’s any hint that might lead you to understand why this is occuring.

    Good luck!
