 * Hi
 * I intermittently get 503 errors on my site investomania.co.uk
 * I’ve tried deactivating plugins but the problem has persisted for a number of
   weeks
 * My hosting company, GoDaddy, say their servers are working fine
 * I’m on a shared hosting plan and am well within my maximum monthly visitor limit
 * Is there any way of checking to see if it is a problem with the server?
 * Any help you could offer would be very welcome
 * Thanks
    Robert

 * Errors like this are logged. Check the error log on your server. If you can’t
   find the log, please contact your host.
 * Meantime, enable wp_debug and wp_debug_log and after an error, look at wp-content/
   debug.log to see if anything gets logged there. [https://codex.wordpress.org/Debugging_in_WordPress](https://codex.wordpress.org/Debugging_in_WordPress)
 * You can also try this: Please attempt to disable all plugins** and **use one
   of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by
   one to identify the source of your troubles.
 * If you cannot access wp-admin, there are other ways to [deactivate plugins](https://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F).

 * Hi Andrew
 * Thanks for your reply
 * How do I find the error log?
 * And since I’m a newbie, is debugging an easy or risky process? Obviously I don’t
   want to cause any further problems
 * The site works well most of the time, but it’s a persistent, intermittent error
 * Thanks

 * That’s a question for your hosting providers – the error log isn’t a WordPress
   file, it’s a file generated by your hosts.

 * Okay thanks, I’ll find out how to access it
 * What am I looking for when I have the error logs?

 * When you find the error log, try reproducing the issue and then the time that
   you reproduced the issue. Then check the error log for the same time. When you
   find the messages in the error log that were generated at the same time, can
   you copy and paste them here?

 * Will do – I’ll report back when I have more details
 * I’ve also had problems with delays in loading AMP pages today – do you think
   the two issues are linked?

 * Perhaps, how are your AMP pages generated?

 * Through the amp for wp plugin
 * The AMP pages work, but are very slow

 * Godaddy have said the only way to get the error log is to enter debug mode
 * Does that sound right?

 * This plugin? [https://wordpress.org/plugins/accelerated-mobile-pages/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/accelerated-mobile-pages/)
 * It’s difficult to say if it’s related, but if it isn’t then you may need to open
   up a support topic on that plugin (scroll down): [https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/accelerated-mobile-pages](https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/accelerated-mobile-pages)

 * Yes, I’ve done that and someone replying to it has said the issue could be server-
   related
 * I’m struggling to get these error logs – GoDaddy said you have to use debug mode
   to get them – does that sound right?
