A Few Pointers To Help Me Get Started Please.

Hi, my first post here of many I hope.

I am a photographer and I want to build a website to display my work and the work of other photographers for sale.

Normally I would just use one of the many non-WP templates that are available but I want this website to function differently.

In a nutshell. I want to start a website specialising in selling photos of Yorkshire. Yorkshire is big and although I have many images I cannot cover the whole of the counties. I need the functionality for photographers to register on the site and upload their own images for sale, so that anyone who searches for “York” for example will be presented with all the images for sale for that location by all the people who have uploaded them. Customers may also search by the photographers name or subject/tags etc. and the site shows a gallery based on their search.

When a print is ordered I need the options of choosing what size it will be, what frame it will be in etc.

All the orders will be processed by myself as I have the printing equipment and also the framing workshop to produce the final goods, I will then dispatch them. The photographer then receives a commission (this need not be catered for by the site but it would be good if they could check sales of their photos)

So basically I am after a site that enables someone who might have a few photos that he/she thinks will sell to register and upload his pics, assign categories and tags and then check his account to see if there has been a sale. Notification of sales by email would also be good.

So, with all of that out of the way – what is my starting point? I appreciate that this could take some time and I also have a small pot of money that I can share with people who are able to help me build the site.
