Access token lifetime cannot be changed

Good day,

It seems that the access token lifetime cannot be modified as stated in the documentation https://wp-oauth.com/docs/how-to/never-expiring-access-token/

It stays on 3600 even if the filter wo_get_access_token_expires_return is added to a custom plugin or theme functions.php file.

Please advise.
