# Activate automatic excerpts?

 * I can’t find where to enable automatic excerpts! All I want to do is have the
   front page always display 55 character excerpts on each post with a “read more”-
   link at the end, WITHOUT having to use the MORE-TAG when doing a post!
 * Please help.

 * Edit your theme’s index.php file and replace `<?php the_content();?>` with `<?
   php the_excerpt();?>`.
