# Activate Code Snippets plugin crashes website

 * Hi there,
 * WordPress 6.5.3
   WPCode Version 2.1.12 
 * The site crashes with a 503 error hen activating the code snippets plugin.
 * The sequence of events:
    1. Happily using code snippets for a while (brilliant plugin)
    2. Added a faulty php snippet which crashed the site with a 503 error.
    3. Renamed plugins folder to plugins-old and created an empty plugins folder
    4. Enabled Code snippets Safe Mode [https://help.codesnippets.pro/en/article/12-safe-mode](https://help.codesnippets.pro/en/article/12-safe-mode)
    5. Re-enabled all plugins – the site immediately crashes with 503 on clicking the
       WPCode Activate plugin button. It doesn’t matter what order the plugins are 
       enabled.
    6. Re-installed the WPCode plugin
    7. In code snippets safe mode – the site still crashes with 503 when activating
       the plugin

 * The article you linked to is for a different plugin from WPCode.
 * In WPCode you can enable safe mode by adding ?wpcode-safe-mode=1 to the URL as
   explained in this article: [https://wpcode.com/docs/php-error-handling-safe-mode/](https://wpcode.com/docs/php-error-handling-safe-mode/)
 * That should allow you to recover access to your website and deactivate the faulty
   snippet.

 * Thanks, I added this to the plugin page and then clicked Activate – the site 
   immediately crashed with 503:

 * After activating the plugin, you will need to access the admin with the safe 
   mode parameter again:
 * [https://domain/wp-admin/?wpcode-safe-mode=1](https://domain/wp-admin/?wpcode-safe-mode=1)
 * The parameter will not work when activating the plugin since it will only work
   after the plugin has been activated, it has no effect in the activation process.
 * This might not work at first since it seems like your snippet is causing an error
   on the server that is using up all memory or something similar but I suggest 
   clearing the cache in your browser and trying it a few times until you get in.

 * Ah problem solved, I was able to reload the admin console to disable the faulty
   snippet.
