 * How do I get WordPress to display content that I have typed into the excerpt 
   field? My setup completely ignores what’s in there.

    The excerpt will be displayed anywhere
   if [the_excerpt](http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/the_excerpt) is used
   in any template instead of [the_content](http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_tags/the_content)
