# Activating Plugins??

 * I uploaded a WP Theme (Revolution Magazine) to my server no problem. The next
   step was to “activate the plugins in the plugins folder.” I am lost on this. 
   I am using SmartFTP and can see the plugin folder on the server and it seems 
   populated with lots of plugins.
 * Are these not being activated, the reason, the theme is not displaying as a choice
   for me to select??
 * Any other thoughts on why the theme is not available to me to switch to as my
   default?
 * The installation structure seems to be complete and in order.
 * Any help would be much appreciated.

 * You seem to be confusing themes and plugins – not the same thing.
    You activate
   a theme by uploading it to the folder WP-CONTENT > THEMES then going to the dashboard
   and selecting PRESENTATION > THEMES and then selecting the theme you want. If
   it isn’t there to be selected it means you uploaded it to the wrong directory.
 * You activate a plugin by uploading it to WP-CONTENT > PLUGINS and you activate
   it by going to the WP dashboard and selecting PLUGINS then clicking on the ACTIVATE
   link for the plugin in question.

 * I’ve got it figured out. I had uploaded the plugins zipped. Once I corrected 
   this, it all works as advertised!
