Adding a Menu Item on Category Creation

i have a side menu that displays all the categories. I do this by manually adding menu items through adding pages and shortcodes. but what I want to do is when I add a new category, it will be added to the side menu automatically. please refer to the photo of this link
as you can see, i have 2 parent categories and 4 sub categories per parent.
is there any way to do this programmatically? thanks!
