# Adding excerpts

 * Excellent theme!
 * is there a way of adding an excerpt? I don’t use a featured image so my post 
   list contains just the titles. I added the excerpt in WordPress option but it
   does not show up. Thanks

 * Hi Rick,
    You can accomplish this by creating a child theme. Just copy the content.
   php into it and add the php code for the excerpt to that.
 * I had the exact same requirement for this theme recently, so I just uploaded 
   my slightly adjusted [child theme to Github](https://github.com/BiancaNL/Rowling-Child).
   Feel free to download and install it, or take a look at the code as an example
   for your own child theme.
 * Why a child theme? It gives you the option to tweak the design a little and keep
