# adding javascript to footer.php won’t save

 * I need to add some javascript to the free Spacious theme footer.php (before </
   body>), but after I click “update file,” I get the message, “Something went wrong.
   Your change may not have been saved. Please try again. There is also a chance
   that you may need to manually fix and upload the file over FTP .”
 * This isn’t the first time this has happened, where adding javascript to footer.
   php wouldn’t save. Can you direct me as to what I need to do so it will save?(
   Bear in mind that I know nothing about programming, but I can follow instructions.)
