# Adding new Theme

 * Hello guys,
 * I was wondering since i’m completely new to the whole website creating scene.
   
   I was trying to add a Theme next to the 3 standards i already have on my wordpress
   admin page, but i’ve been getting an error: Downloading install package from 
   [https://downloads.wordpress.org/theme/zerif-lite.1.8.4.4.zip…](https://downloads.wordpress.org/theme/zerif-lite.1.8.4.4.zip…)
 * Unpacking the package…
 * Could not create directory.
 * Now i’ve managed to install a FTP server on my VPS.
    Port 21 is open. I placed
   the Theme (that i downloaded manually) inside the theme’s folder right next to
   the other 3 already existing theme’s. also granted permission 777 on ALL folders
   and sub folders + files.
 * now i’m not really an expert on this kind of thing, so please keep the questions
   in “noob language” so i will try do to my best to give you all the information
   you require and i would like to thank you guys in advance for helping me out 
   on this problem. *already working on the website 2,5 weeks now* getting better
   at this step by step and trying to learn from all the mistakes i make. this is
   the first question after 2,5 weeks since i really can’t seem the find the solution.

 * IF you have given the permission 777 to folders then it should work because the
   error “Could not create directory.” occurred when there was no write permission
   inside folder So can you please it again by clearing the cache.

 * Thank you for your reply. i use google chrome and went to settings – history –
   clear cache.
 * This doesn’t seem to fix the problem. Is there any other type of information 
   i could supply you with?
 * i used file zilla – file permission on all the different folders, went for code
   777 and it automaticaly selected read/write etc. seemed it worked out fine.
