The build in customizer for the TentyThirteen theme is very minimalistic. This plugin gives you many options to customize the theme in a very detailed level.

Which theme did you try with the plugin? It’s offered in 4 free versions, and 1 paid version (with two more paid versions coming soon!) When I played around with it I was able to change over 300 different options between the TwentyTen, TwentyEleven, TwentyTWelve and TwentyThirteen theme. Seemed like a fun plugin (and yes, I work with the team that created it … I won’t even try and hide it.)

For a Genisis theme you will need to use a version of Styles found here:
http://thestizmedia.com/styles-genesis-add-ons/. Trying to use the THIS version of the plugin won’t work for you. The plugin works as described. Your rating is a bit unfair as the limitation isn’t with the plugin, but your understanding of its currently available themes.
