• Hello,
I reset my WP website to start from scratch yesterday. Surely, I have some plugins managing the login attempts/page. When my website was default again, I changed the admin panel URL but interestingly, I wasn’t directed to the admin panel when I wrote the URL down. It gives a 404 error. I even tried to default /admin but not worked again. I only see the homepage as a visitor so I think the website is not down, yet I can’t access to the admin panel either.
Can you help me with this?

  • Find your website’s HTACCESS file (in your cPanel File Manager) and rename it… and test the default login URL.

If that doesn’t work, you’ll need to seek help from the specific plugin you used to change the login URL. If you can mention the plugin you used, we’ll be able to point you in the right direction.

    Good luck!

    Hi again,
I did what you suggest and then tried /login and /admin but they didn’t work out, only /wp-admin directed me to a page but it wasn’t the admin panel, it was simply the homepage screen.
For your reference, I used the WPS Hide Login plugin.
Note: I believe it has nothing to do with the site’s admin panel problem but I just worry if the issue is caused by that I had deleted all the pages of my website before resetting it. Don’t think so, but just informing you for a better examination.
    Thank you.
    Regards

Hi, I’ve just renamed the plugins file and the problem was fixed. But consequently, the plugins on my site were all gone. It was fixed when I turn the plugin file’s name to the default version, now I’m back to square one, the admin panel is missing.

When you reset the site, did you reset EVERYTHING (thereby disabling all plugins) or did you only reset the content?

Some tidbits from the plugin’s support forum:

    1) Remove the wps-hide-login folder from your plugins folder to completely delete the plugin, then log in through wp-login.php and reinstall the plugin.

    2) If you have any caching on your site or at your host, be sure you’ve completely cleared all caches.

If none of that helps, please post a new question in the “WPS Hide Login” plugin’s own support forum so the plugin’s developer and user community can help you out:

    Good luck!

Ooop! Didn’t realize you had responded again.

I’m glad you got this sorted out 😀

It’s a bit odd but I did some changes in permalinks and it worked out. Interesting!
Thank you for your help! 🙂

Oh, I’m really struggling now. After changing the permalinks, everything was working fine but suddenly my admin page started not to login and show “this page isn’t working” due to a redirecting problem.
some say that I should delete htaccess file and create a new one
