I’ve been trying everything for about a month to connect adsense to my website and I keep getting the same error message (pasted below). I tried having advanced ads insert the code automatically for me, I tried pasting the code in myself in the header theme between the <head> and </head> tags, but I am at a loss on why it’s not working.

Your site isn’t ready to show ads
We couldn’t find the code on your site. This is because the code is either missing or incomplete, or because the URL of your site is incorrect. Learn more.

Copy and paste this code in the HTML of your site, between the <head> and </head> tags.

    Hi knitabitcrochetaway,

    thanks for reaching out.

I can confirm that the AdSense Auto ads code is missing and have an idea why.

Your site seems to use native AMP, meaning that you enabled the AMP technology for all your traffic. AMP is a technology that has a very different code compared to the “normal” version of your website. They strip out many codes automatically. This means that you probably not only experience issues with AdSense.

If you know about AMP and enabled it intentionally then you would need AMP-compatible AdSense tags. Our Responsive add-on places the Auto ads code on AMP pages and converts other AdSense ad units to AMP automatically.

If you don’t know what AMP is then maybe you enabled it by accident through an AMP technology. You should rather disable it then.

Now I am curious about whether you knew about it or not 🙂

    Hi Thomas,

THANK YOU so much for your quick reply and help! Nope, I had no idea I enabled AMP, or what it was for that matter. I disabled it so hopefully that helps adsense connect. It was probably a plug-in I activated in my excitement creating my website. Clearly I don’t know what I’m doing 😂

    Hi knitabitcrochetaway,

now I can find the Verification and Auto ads code four times on your site. Once is enough, but that is not a critical error. Just if you remember how you added most of them then I would remove it.

AMP is not a bad thing at all. I just don’t think it is the right choice at this stage of your project.

Good luck with your AdSense application. And if you feel like you want to say a few nice words about Advanced Ads and our support then please say it here.

    Thanks,
    Thomas
