 * Hello,
    We are using Akeeba Backup with WordPress and PHP 5.3.8. Akeeba explains
   that the minimum release for PHP is 5.3.4. This is not exact, they use they are
   using the short way [] for the array() function, only available from PHP 5.4.
   So this is not a question, just a warning for user in the situation as us because
   we lost a lot of time understanding the problem. Best Regards AR

   You are their customer; I am sure they will have no problem supporting you there.
 * PS: It would be good to use PHP 5.6 or greater for you site rathe than sticking
